Grip Turning
Mandrels Below
Well folks, it's a case of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em"!  We've searched and searched for quality tools to offer
our customers, but when it comes to heavy machines like lathes, shipping cost soon becomes a deal breaker.
Asking manufacturers the question, "how can Amazon offer machines for that price AND pay the freight?", the
answer we often got was "I have no idea..."

Rather than beat our heads against the wall any longer, we've decided to simply do our customers a favor and
point them to the best deals we could find on the internet for these freight intense machines.
All Lathe prices below INCLUDE U.S. SHIPPING COSTS!

From a block of wood to an exotic reel seat insert in four easy steps...
1.  Optional Four Jaw Headstock
Chuck and Three Jaw Tailstock
Chucks allow you to easily bore
perfectly centered holes in reel
seat blanks.
2.  With the reel seat blank
spinning in the headstock chuck
and the brad point bit fixed in the
tailstock chuck, the drill chuck is
fed into the work piece using the
hand wheel at the rear of the
tailstock.  Tail stock "quill" travels
up to 4".
3.  After replacing the tailstock
chuck with the 60 degree live
center, the drilled reel seat blank
is then fastened to a threaded
wood turning mandrel and turned
from it's square shape into a
cylinder.
1.  The reel seat insert is turned to
it's finished size, then the rear
mortise is cut to accept the reel
seat hardware.  The seat is then
sanded while spinning with 220G,
then 500G sandpaper prior to
finishing.
"Through Bore" hollow headstock shaft allows
1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" mandrels to pass through for
added mandrel support, providing reduced
chatter or vibration on small diameter mandrels.
Custom grips are built on grip turning mandrels by simply applying
paraffin wax to the mandrel, then slipping on cork rings, wood trim
rings,etc..., gluing them together and clamping until dry.  The
assembly can them be moved to the lathe to be shaped, sanded
and even finished before removing them from the mandrel and
installing on your rod blank.
